Whipped Royal Jelly Honey
Raw honey whipped until pale and creamy, then folded with royal jelly and flaky salt. A spreadable way to get royal jelly into your morning toast.
Ingredients
The Spread
- 1 cup Go Honey pure honey, at room temperature
- 1 teaspoon Go Honey royal jelly
- Pinch of flaky sea salt
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
To Serve
- Crusty sourdough, warm toast, or scones
Instructions
Bring Honey to Room Temperature
Let your honey sit out for an hour before you start. Cold honey is stiff and won't take in air properly. Don't be tempted to warm it on the stove—room temperature is all you need.
Whip It
Pour the honey into a mixing bowl and beat with a hand mixer on medium for 5 to 7 minutes. It will gradually lighten from deep gold to a pale, opaque cream and roughly double in volume.
Fold in the Royal Jelly
Turn the mixer to low and add the royal jelly, vanilla, and sea salt. Mix just until combined—about 30 seconds. Adding it at the end means it's never overworked and never heated, so it goes into the jar exactly as raw as it came out of it.
Check the Texture
You're looking for something soft and spreadable that holds a soft swirl, like whipped butter. If it's still runny, keep whipping for another minute or two.
Jar and Spread
Transfer to a clean jar and keep it at room temperature. Spread thickly on warm sourdough, toast, or scones.
